Sans serif fonts

Clean, modern faces without serifs. The workhorses of interfaces, branding and body text.

282 fonts

Sans serif fonts drop the small strokes at the ends of letters, which gives them a clean, even texture that reads well on screens and at small sizes. They are the default choice for interfaces, apps, branding and body text on the web.

Within the category there is huge range: geometric sans like Montserrat and Poppins are built from circles and straight lines, humanist sans like Open Sans and Source Sans keep a hint of the pen, and grotesques like Roboto and Inter sit in the neutral middle. Use the mood and style filters, or just describe the feeling you want, to narrow it down.

FAQs

What is the difference between sans serif and serif?

Serif fonts have small strokes, called serifs, at the ends of letters. Sans serif fonts do not. Serifs help guide the eye along long lines of print, while sans serifs stay crisp on screens and at small sizes.

Which sans serif is best for a website?

For body text, choose one with several weights, good language coverage and a variable version if possible, such as Inter, Roboto, Open Sans or Manrope. For headings you can be bolder: a geometric or condensed sans gives more personality.

Are these sans serif fonts free for commercial use?

Every free font on Typesay is released under an open licence, most often the SIL Open Font License, which allows commercial use in print, on the web and in apps. The licence text is included in each download.
