Finding fonts
How do I search by describing a font?
Type what you want in plain words, for example warm rounded sans for a bakery, in the search box on the home page or in the header. Typesay reads the feeling, style and category words and ranks every font against them. You can also press the microphone button and say it.
How do I find a font from a picture?
Open image search, upload or paste a screenshot or photo, drag a box around the letters and press find. Typesay compares the shapes of the letters against every font in the catalogue.
How do I preview fonts with my own text?
Type into the bar under the header on any browse page. Every card updates. On a font page you can also change size, weight, spacing and line height, and see the font on a poster, logo, label and website.
Downloading and installing
How do I download a free font?
Press Download free on the font page. You get a ZIP with the original font files, the licence and a README.
How do I install a font on Windows?
Unzip the download, right-click the TTF or OTF file and choose Install. Or select several files and install them together. Restart your app to see the new font.
How do I install a font on a Mac?
Unzip the download, double-click the TTF or OTF file and press Install Font in Font Book. The font appears in your apps straight away.
How do I use a font on my website?
Every free font page has a copyable embed block: a Google Fonts link, a CSS import, or a self-hosted @font-face rule. The web download pack includes the WOFF2 files and a ready-made fonts.css. For paid fonts you need a web licence.
What is in the download?
All files gives you the original desktop files plus the web files and CSS. Desktop gives TTF or OTF only. Web gives WOFF2 plus fonts.css. Every pack includes the licence and a README.
Which format should I install, TTF or OTF?
Either works on Windows and Mac. OTF can carry more OpenType features such as alternates and ligatures. If both are included, install OTF.
How do I install a font on iPhone or iPad?
Use a font installer app from the App Store, or open the font in an app that supports importing, such as Procreate or Keynote.
How do I find a font I saw somewhere?
Take a screenshot or photo and use image search. Crop tightly to the letters. Typesay reads the words and compares the letter shapes against every font.
Buying and selling
What licence do I need for a paid font?
Desktop for documents, print and logos. Web for websites. App for software. See licensing for the plain-language version.
How do I sell my fonts?
Create an author account, upload your files, set prices and submit for review. Your first three fonts are commission free.
How do I report a font that infringes my rights?
Use the DMCA page. We act on valid notices quickly.
