Sell your fonts on Typesay

Open to everyone. Your first 3 fonts are commission free, so you charge the customer full price and keep all of it. After that, Typesay takes 25 percent. The big marketplaces take up to half from day one.

Sales open soon. Create your account and upload now, so your fonts are reviewed and ready the day paid sales go live.

What you get

  • Upload once. Typesay reads the weights, styles, language coverage and variable axes, converts web files and builds the specimen pages.
  • Set your prices. Desktop, web and app tiers with plain-language licence pages, or give a font away free to bring people to your page.
  • Get found. Buyers describe what they want. Your work surfaces when it fits the brief, not only when it is already popular.
  • Get paid. Monthly payouts, with a dashboard showing downloads, sales and your share for every font.

How and when you get paid

  1. A buyer paysOur payment partner Paddle takes the payment and adds any sales tax or VAT for the buyer's country.
  2. Your share is recordedThe sale appears in your dashboard straight away with the price, tax, processing fee, commission and your share.
  3. It settles for 30 daysEvery sale waits 30 days so refunds are sorted out before money moves. Then it is ready to pay.
  4. You are paid monthlyIn the first week of each month we pay everything that has settled, once it reaches $50.00. Smaller amounts roll over, nothing is lost.

PayPal, Wise or bank

PayPal works almost everywhere. Wise pays into your own bank in your currency at a low cost. Or choose a direct bank transfer.

One clear fee

The transfer fee is 2% of each payout, capped at $20.00. You see it on every payout before it is sent.

Refunds, fairly

If a buyer is refunded, that sale comes off your balance. If it was already paid out, it comes off your next payout instead.

Private details

Your payout details live in your account, visible only to you and Typesay staff. Nothing about payment appears on your public designer page.

Author FAQs

How does the first three free work?

Your first 3 fonts listed on Typesay carry zero commission for their whole life on the site, not just an introductory period. After those, Typesay keeps 25 percent of each sale and you keep the rest.

Who owns the font?

You do. Typesay sells licences on your behalf under the terms you set. You can withdraw a font at any time; licences already sold stay valid for their buyers.

How are payouts made?

Monthly, in the first week, to PayPal, Wise or your bank. Each sale settles for 30 days first so refunds are sorted out, and payouts go out once your settled balance reaches $50.00.

Why do sales wait before they are paid?

So a refund never has to be taken back from money you already received. After 30 days a sale is settled and joins your next payout.

What about pirated uploads?

Every upload is checked against known commercial families and reviewed by a person. Rights holders can use the DMCA process, and repeat infringers lose their account.

Can I list free fonts?

Yes. Free fonts bring people to your designer page and count toward your first three.
