How it works

What kind of picture works best?

A clear, straight-on shot of a few words in one font. Avoid heavy angles, curved text and busy backgrounds. Screenshots work very well. If the words we find are wrong, fix them in the letters box before searching.

How does it find matches?

We read the words in your picture, then set those same words in every font on Typesay and compare the shapes letter by letter, allowing for different spacing and checking the stroke weight. The closest drawings come first.

Is my image stored?

No. It is processed in memory and discarded. Nothing is saved.

It found similar fonts, not the exact one.

If the lettering is a commercial font that is not on Typesay, you will get the closest free alternatives. Try a tighter crop or a different word if the first results miss.
